Mission Organic
But I came across this awesome site that I HAD to share with you guys!
Mission Organic's mission (heh) is to increase people's consumption of organic items to 1 in 10. So 1 item in your shopping cart out of 10 should be an organic item. Whether it be produce, milk, meat, pasta, whatever! By doing so we can keep the earth and our bodies clean from pesticides.
At their site they also offer a free downloadable starter kit that gives you a ton of information on what "organic" means, how you can incorporate organic foods into your family's budget and it even gives you recipes and links to other sites to help you on your quest to increase the amount of organic foods you consume.
So go take a gander when you get a minute. ;) It's an awesome site!

Be still my Italy-loving, organic-eating heart!

Oh yea. That's right. O-R-G-A-N-I-C T-U-S-C-A-N-Y!
You heard me! I feel like I'm going to pass out I'm so excited! This, ladies and gents, is a SEVEN day cooking holiday in Tuscany amongst organic farms and sprawling wineries, complete with daily cooking classes, wine tastings, trips to the organic farms, wine tastings, and I think there was a small mention of wine tastings on the site somewhere. ;)
I don't know what to do with myself right now I am so INSANELY happy! Look at this delicious list of goodness that IS this excersion:
What's included?
Seven nights' accommodation
Four hands-on cooking classes (in English)
Lunch with delicious local biodynamic wines after all classes
A welcome dinner at La Selva with wine
Two dinners at organic farm restaurants with wine
A farewell dinner with wine in a great local trattoria on Friday night
A wine-tasting session
A picnic lunch with organic products
Pre-booked ticket to the Uffizi galleries in Florence
A hamper with breakfast items (tea, coffee, fruit, organic jams and honey) in your apartment
Um, did I mention that I was excited??! I'm not sure if I did or not, but let me tell you now...I am! BEYOND excited. This trip was made for me. For reals! Italy? Cooking classes? Wine tasting? Organic, locally grown food? Homemade pasta? Italy? Beatiful villa to stay in? O.M.G.! This is meeeeeeeee!!!
As soon as I graduate and get a job I am immediately saving for this trip. I will not make it as a happy human being unless I have experienced this greatness.
Please, PLEASE do yourself a HUGE favor and check out this website...even if you can't afford to go at least read the site. It is so exilerating! (Oh, and just so you know, if you visit my site often...all 2 of you...heh...I WILL be talking about this more than once. You can bet your life on it! So let's hope you don't get sick of Italy..mm hmmmm.)
Be still my organic heart! :)
(Now, if only I didn't have to take a plane to get there...dang carbon footprint! heh)

CUTE and green living...!
You know when you stumble across a cool website and you just want to share it with everyone? :) Well, I found one today...check out these massively ADORABLE plates?? Oh my gosh! I LOVE them! They're little monsters! The website where I found these also has another set that I'm in love with...its got a little monkey on the plate. TOO cute. If you want to check out the site, go here. They have awesome baby clothes and blankets and toys and everything. All of their clothes are made from soybean fiber so you KNOW they're comfortable, good for the environment, and free of chemicals.
From Babysoy's website:
"What is soybean fiber? Soybean fiber is a sustainable textile fiber made from renewable natural resources. It is part of an effort moving consumers away from petrochemical textile products and turning waste into useful products."
It's actually funny because a few months ago I wouldn't have cared about any of this, but for some reason I'm going all crunchy. lol ;) Don't ask me why...and Davey makes fun of me constantly (in a loving way, of course), but he's starting to get on the crunchy train, too. I just feel better knowing I'm giving my family food and things that aren't chemically altered, you know? Sure it costs a little more to buy organic skim milk over regular skim milk, but I know that by doing that there are no antibiotics or anything in the milk and that the cows are fed a healthy, vegetarian diet. Go ahead and roll your eyes now (if you haven't already.. ;)), but truly...I think I'm coming around to the idea of "green living." If you want to learn more, I HIGHLY recommend this show. Sara Snow is an expert on living green and organic and she's down to earth (pun completely intended) and honest about small, easy changes you can make to live a fresher, healthier life. So if you have Discovery Health I definitely recommend watching it. She's fantastic. :)
Ok, off my organic, green soapbox. It snowed and now we have ice all over the place outside so I'm off to go sledding with the boys! :) More later!
